Resolute Forest Products will be able to produce more pulp at its Saint-Félicien mill in Canada in the future. Upgrades and investments of CAD52m at the site will be having this side effect.
Canadian forestry group Resolute Forest Products has announced investments in its Saint-Félicien plant in the Canadian province of Quebec. The company plans to invest a total of CAD53.3m in the site. The measures are expected to improve several areas of the operation, which will also lead to an increase in pulp capacities by 76 tpd, said Resolute's CEO Yves Laflamme. The company currently produces northern bleached softwood kraft (NBSK) pulp with a capacity of 340,000 tpy in Saint-Félicien and employs 240 people. Another effect of the investments is the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by 20%, Resolute added. The company expects the upgrade to be completed by the end of 2019.
The La Doré plant is also planned to be upgraded. Resolute recently announced it would invest CAD13m in the modernisation of the site. La Doré consists of a sawmill with a capacity of around 467,000 m³ (198 million board feet) and a planer mill with a capacity of around 38,000 m³ (16 million board feet). The plant employs 246 people.
