Rising pressure on GC board prices in the UK

|

The British GC board market was still lacklustre in January. Manufacturers have thin order books, with lead times short and demand not expected to pick up in the remainder of January, either. One supplier admitted to have made price cuts for the majority of his customers while a few manufacturers are sticking to their prices. Customers have little scope to influence pricing in cases where they insist on specific quality requirements for the board they buy. If at all, they are able to lower prices in isolated instances and only in combination with large contracts, some suppliers stated. Converters had differing opinions: A few of them were sure that GC board prices would have to fall soon or have already fallen because cheaper material was available not only from overseas but also from European manufacturers.
