Rotocart's new converting facility in Castelminio di Resana will house five coverting lines and one printing machine. Production start-up is scheduled for April 2017.

Italy's tissue paper and products company Rotocart has placed an order with Valmet for a new rewinder to be installed at company's new converting plant in Castelminio di Resana in the Italian province of Treviso. According to Valmet, it is to become one of the largest converting sites in the country. The order value has not been disclosed.

Rotocart puts the total investment cost for the converting site in Castelminio di Resana at €60m. The site will house five converting lines and one printing machine, offering a combined maximum capacity of 120,000 tpy of tissue products. Production start-up is scheduled for April next year. According to the company, the site will create 55 direct jobs.

Rotocart owns a tissue mill in Borgo a Mozzano in Italy's Tuscany region with a capacity of some 28,000 tpy of tissue, which the company had acquired from the Wepa group back in 2013. In addition, Rotocart runs a converting site at the company's headquarter in Piombino Dese, Veneto region, producing some 32,000 tpy of tissue products.

The Piombino Dese converting facility is meant to close within next two years, once the new facility in Castelminio di Resana has become fully operational, the company explained.

Rotocart made headlines in spring when it pulled out of a joint venture tissue project with Norske Skog in Bruck, Austria. According to Norske Skog, the two partner companies planned to setup up a production and converting mill for sanitary paper for a total of €80m. The capacity of the tissue machine was estimated at about 70,000 tpy at the time.
