Sale of Catalyst Paper to Paper Excellence concluded

Paper Excellence Canada has expanded its portfolio and added 1.3 million t of pulp and paper capacities. The company finalised the acquisition of Catalyst Paper.

Pulp manufacturer Paper Excellence Canada has completed the takeover of Canadian pulp and paper producer Catalyst Paper. This allows paper Excellence, who is primarily a producer of pulp, to enter the market for different paper grades.

Catalyst Paper offers NBSK market pulp, but also printing papers including newsprint, LWC and directory paper as well as specialty papers such as paper for food packaging or label papers. The company has 1,500 employees and a production capacity of 1.3 million tpy of pulp and paper. It has three mills in Crofton, Port Alberni and Powell River, a distribution centre in Surrey and its headquarters in Richmond.

Paper Excellence Canada has 1,800 employees and can produce approximately 1.6 million t of pulp and paper. It is part of the Paper Excellence group, which also operates two pulp mills in France. Total pulp manufacturing capacity of Paper Excellence amounts to nearly 2.3 million tpy.
