Schattdecor expands its impregnating business, takes over Vasatech of Malaysia

06 Mar 2019 −

The company is seeking to position itself as an independent impregnator

German decor paper producer Schattdecor is expanding its impregnating activities by taking over all the shares in Malaysian impregnating company Vasatech, based in Bestari Jaya. After several months of negotiations, the company came to an agreement with the former owners of Vasatech on the terms of the transaction in February 2019. The final contracts were signed in the last week of February to enable the deal to be closed on 1 March. Following the acquisition, Basil Corera, who has been working for Schattdecor as its representative for several year, has taken over as managing director of Vasatech.

Schattdecor will integrate Vasatech into the group in a number of stages. For the time being Vasatech will continue to operate under its name and will continue to supply its existing customers with decorative films and technical films. The processed decor paper will also continue to be supplied by a variety of printers. The bulk of the deliveries from Schattdecor are currently from its main plant in Thansau, southern Germany, but are to be at least partly moved to the Schattdecor printing facility in Shanghai during the course of the integration process.
