Slump in sales of uncoated fine papers in Germany in the summer

The decrease in deliveries in July was a lot more pronounced than official statistics would suggest, market experts told EUWID.

The slump in demand affected all paper grades. Suppliers of A4 cut-sizes report that double-digit decreases in sales had sometimes recently been recorded for C grades- However official statistics were rather showing sales decreases in the lower single-digit percentage range in July, which a few EUWID sources found hard to comprehend. They reported that machine shutdowns have failed to balance the market out.

Paper manufacturers are now pinning their hopes on a strong final third. A slight upswing in ordering was already evident at the end of August.
