Smurfit Kappa announces investment in Nettingsdorf containerboard mill

A new recovery boiler and steam turbine are to increase production and reduce CO2 emissions and energy consumption at the Smurfit Kappa's Nettingsdorf mill from 2020.

Global packaging supplier Smurfit Kappa has announced a multi-million euro investment in new technology at its Nettingsdorf Paper Mill in Austria. The project consists of building a state-of-the-art recovery boiler by 2020 and a new steam turbine by 2022.

The measure will increase production and reduce CO2 emissions as well as energy consumption at the mill, the company informs.

Smurfit Kappa produces 450,000 t of virgin fibre containerboard at the Nettingsdorf mill.
