The Smurfit Kappa Group is expanding in France. Four packaging plants have come under the ownership of the Irish group.

The Smurfit Kappa Group (SKG) has announced the acquisition of French packaging company Papcart as well as two Europac plants also located in France.

Papcart is a manufacturer of cartonboard and corrugated board consumer packaging, which is active in the luxury, wines & spirits, fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) and bag-in-box markets. The company has two sites in Gétigné and Jarnac in Western France which have a total of 50,000 m² of production, storage and office space.

SKG has also taken over the Caradec and Saint Pol de Léon sites from Europac. They are both located in France's Brittany region and employ a total of 200 people. SKG said this acquisition would reinforce its capacities in the fruit and vegetable sector.
