Södra announces price hike for NBSK pulp

17 Dec 2020 −

A first announcement for a NBSK pulp price increase as of January has been published for the European market. Other players might follow suit.

Södra has announced it wants to raise prices of northern bleached softwood kraft (NBSK) pulp in Europe to $960/t in the new year. "We distinguish clear signs of the global NBSK market recovering, and in addition we also sense the impact of multiple maintenance stops reducing supply, further improving the market balance," the company said.

Other players told EUWID they had price hike plans for NBSK as well as the market was strong. However, not everyone would make an official announcement but talk directly to clients, one respondent pointed out.
