Softwood pulp prices continue to decline in March

While softwood pulp prices continued to head south in March, hardwood prices remained steady on the back of an upturn in the Chinese market.

Although not all negotiations had been concluded by the end of week 13, it appeared quite clear that the market for northern bleached softwood sulfate pulp was further heading south in March.

Despite high inventories in the ports and in pulp manufacturers' warehouses, prices for BEK remained unchanged, not least because the market in China showed signs of an upturn.
