Co-determination negotiations on temporary layoffs of up to 180 Ingerois mill employees in the period 1 June to 31 December started last Monday.

Stora Enso is considering curbing output at the Finish Ingerois board mill in 2019 due to market reasons. The company started co-determination negotiations on potential temporary layoffs of the Ingerois mill staff on 6 May. The talks are expected to last some two weeks time.

According to Stora Enso, the co-determination process involves up to 180 people that could be temporarily laid off for a maximum of 90 days in the period between 1 June and 31 December 2019. The company blames its decision on a "short term demand/supply imbalance and high raw material costs".

Stora Enso Ingerois mill runs one board machine, producing folding boxboard in basis weights of 230-335 g/m² for food, pharmaceutical and confectionary packaging. The company puts the mill's capacity at 280,000 tpy.
