The upward trend in cartonboard prices continues in Germany

Recycled cartonboard prices edged higher again in November. Primary fibre-based grades look set to become more expensive from 1 January at the latest.

Price talks covering further price hikes in the remaining part of the year as well as new contracts for deliveries as of January 2022 are continuing between cartonboard manufacturers, converters and their customers on the market in Germany.

Towards the middle of November, negotiations on the new 2022 contracts in the folding boxboard segment appear to have made more progress than those for white-lined chipboard, some of which have not even got going yet. One thing is already clear for all grades, though: price increases instituted this year do not go far enough, say cartonboard producers.
