Thermal paper market in Europe returning to normalcy after overheating in 2018

EUWID market report shows weak global demand and abundant supply creating price pressure on the European thermal paper market.

Weakening business has triggered debate on prices on the global thermal paper market. Since the beginning of the year, restrained demand, especially in the POS and label segments, is coupled with improved availability of thermal paper.

In North America and Southeast Asia, this shift in market balance has led to price reductions. Although thermal paper manufacturers stress that the development on the global market cannot be directly transposed to the market in Western Europe due to high production costs, they concede that price pressure exists on the European market, too. After all, business has noticeably receded even here.
