The Indonesian attaché in the UK has provided more details on the registration process for companies based in the UK and Ireland that want to ship non-hazardous and non-toxic (non-B-3) waste into Indonesia.
Last week market insiders raised concerns that with the registration deadline for waste imports to Indonesia quickly approaching, the Indonesian consulate in the UK was not processing applications from British exporters. The mandatory registration process which was suspended in August had resumed in several other European countries, but not the UK. Consular authorities responded and on Monday information was made available regarding registrations.

The Indonesian authorities also addressed concerns about the validity of registrations submitted before the service was suspended this summer. It appears that those companies will need to reapply. "For those who have sent a document from the previous regulation, we will send the document back to your company with your return envelope ASAP," said a consular spokesperson.
