The spread of the coronavirus causes more and more employees to remain absent from work.
Due to a growing number of employees remaining absent from work UPM decided to stop production at its Caledonian paper mill in the UK. The company informed its customers that it had no reported case of coronavirus infection but more and more employees were either in self-isolation or were part of one of the risk groups defined by the UK government. The company said that it interrupted production "for the time being", explaining it would fulfill orders from other UPM mills.
UPM's Caledonian paper mill is located some 50 km from Glasgow and has an annual output of about 250,000 tpy of coated magazine paper.
