UPM has put the PM 10 LWC line at its Plattling site out of operation as planned, reducing capacity by 155,000 tpy.
The final stop took place yesterday, Monday 15 July 2019, reducing the group's supply of coated catalogue and magazine papers in Europe by 155,000 tonnes per year.
The permanent closure of the production line, announced by UPM in April 2019, will result in the loss of 155 jobs at the paper mill. Employee negotiations and negotiations with employee representatives have already been concluded. The two remaining paper machines at the Plattling site will continue to be operated.
UPM had justified the PM closure and staff reductions with the need to further increase the competitiveness of the paper business.
