Voith Paper and IHI Corporation start JV for combustion technology

Japanese general heavy equipment manufacturer IHI Corporation and Voith Paper founded Voith IHI EcoSolutions GmbH & Co. KG to join forces in the market for power plants.

The joint venture, in which both Voith and IHI hold an interest of 50% each, is being technically managed by Voith Paper and will be headquartered in Heidenheim, Germany. It will provide complete thermal fluidized bed power plants especially for the paper industry for an effective and environmentally friendly combustion of solid waste materials, which also generates electrical energy and steam. Stationary and circulating fluidized bed technologies are part of the joint venture.

Voith Paper and IHI have jointly been providing solutions to the industry for more than 30 years, Voith said. The IHI Corporation is an established supplier of thermal power plants in the east Asian and southeast Asian region and has completed a wide range of successful projects for power plants of various types and sizes, the company explained.
