Wepa applies to take over Arjowiggins' Greenfield plant

Today Tissue manufacturer Wepa submitted an application to German competition authority Bundeskartellamt for takeover of Arjowiggins' Greenfield DIP plant.

Greenfield can produce up to 150,000 tpy of deinked recycled pulp, and processes up to 230,000 t of recovered paper. The plant used to supply Arjowiggins' graphic paper mills in France with the pulp. At the beginning of January, Arjowiggins filed for receivership proceedings, and in February the selling process of the facilities was launched.

Wepa SA is a leading manufacturer of tissue products with a turnover of €1.2bn and 3,800 staff. The company operates 22 tissue paper machines and more than 90 processing machines for rolled and folded hygiene paper products. Facilities are located in France (2 plants), Germany (5 plants), Italy (2 plants), the Netherlands (1 plant), Poland (1 plant) and the UK (1 plant).
