The integration of the Greenfield site will expand Wepa's recovered paper processing capacity and optimize its supply chain, in order to meet the high demand for tissue products with recycled fibre content.

Last week, the Commercial Court of Nanterre revealed that Arjowiggins' Greenfield deinked pulp (DIP) mill in France would be sold to Germany's tissue paper and products manufacturer Wepa. The acquisition aimed at securing deinked pulp supply for company's recycled tissue mills. Nevertheless, Wepa will continue selling part of the DIP output of the Greenfield mill to third parties.

The company plans to process the pulp internally as well as sell it on the free market, according to a company spokeswoman.

The Greenfield mill, located in Château-Thierry in the Aisne department, was part of the insolvent Arjowiggins group. With 74 employees, the site has an annual production capacity of 150,000 t of deinked pulp for various applications such as graphic paper and tissue, according to Arjowiggins. Wepa put the production capacity at 130,000 tpy. The company declined to provide details about the conditions of the acquisition.
