Grupo Hinojosa takes over MS Packaging and enters corrugated market in Italy

The acquisition of recycled containerboard and corrugated products company MS Packaging is part of Hinojosa's growth and internalisation efforts and marks the group's entry into the Italian market.

Spain's corrugated products company Grupo Hinojosa has announced the acquistion of Italy's MS Packaging. MS Packaging operates a paper mill in Salerno and an integrated corrugated board and packaging plant in Arzano, near Naples. According to Hinojosa, the family-run company MS Packaging employs around 200 people at the two sites and had sales revenues of €60m in 2023 . All jobs are to be retained under new ownership, Hinojosa annouced in the corresponding takeover announcement.

The acquistion of MS Packaging marks the group's into the Italian corrugated products market which is the second biggest market in Europe, Grupo Hinojosa announced. "This operation coincides with the start of Hinojosa’s new 2024-2026 Strategic Plan. After consolidating its growth over the last three years, this will mark a new stage in which the company will be focusing on internationalisation, to continue expanding its supply of sustainable packaging, anticipating the trends of the sector, and thus the demands of its customers," the group said. MS Packaging reportedly holds a strong position in the food and beverage packaging market.

With the incorporation of MS Packaging, Hinojosa group now has a workforce of 2,900 employees and 24 production plants located in Spain, Portugal, France and Italy, the Spanish packaging group announced.
