With the takeover of Madrid-based paper recycling company Reciclajes Dolaf last week German Alba Group entered the Iberian Peninsula.
German recycling group Alba is entering the Spanish recovered paper market. The company reported that the purchase agreement for 99 percent of the shares in the paper recycler and merchant Reciclajes Dolaf S.L. was signed before a notary on 26 April. The transfer of rights became effective immediately. The remaining shares remain in the hands of the previous owners, the Donoso Lafuente family.
According to the information at hand, Reciclajes Dolaf is above all active in handling, sorting, buying, and selling paper, paperboard, and packaging (PPP) in Madrid and Valencia. The company is also one of three recipients of material under Spain’s largest municipal disposal contract for PPP, the one for the capital, Madrid. Reciclajes Dolaf has a total input and output volume of roughly 100,000 tonnes of recovered paper and cardboard per year.
“Entering the market in Spain further strengthens our position as a raw-material supplier in southern Europe,” said board chairman of Alba Group, Axel Schweitzer. “At the Valencia facility we also have the option of using Spain’s largest deep sea port.” Schweitzer announced the company’s intention to add other secondary raw material source streams to its field of business. In order to integrate the new company into the Alba Group, it now trades under the name of Alba Servicios Verdes, S.L. Alba is keeping on all of the almost 80 employees at the Madrid and Valencia facilities.
