Customers are paying more for LWC and MWC in first quarter and half-year contracts in Italy. Market players report an increase of up to 2-3%, for rotogravure paper in particular.

Price negotiations on the Italian market for magazine paper were concluded for the most part as of the end of February. Overall, the price curve is trending slightly higher, but with obvious differences between coated and uncoated magazine papers as well as between rotogravure and offset grades.

Players on the LWC market report mark-ups of as much as 2-3% for deliveries in the first quarter and first half of 2016. Suppliers of SC paper in Italy were less successful at achieving their targeted prices. Sellers and buyers say that quotes for SC-B grades were mostly unchanged while there were marginal increases for SC-A.

In general, rotogravure paper was fetching higher price hikes, which was attributed to a small pool of suppliers and their stronger market position.
