As price discussions for the first quarter of 2015 did not go through as planned in many cases, label paper suppliers have started a second round of price talks in Germany.
One Austrian producer launched price talks from 1 April. Other suppliers have informed their customers of similar plans, albeit to take effect on 1 May or 1 June.
However, prices would only edge higher in cases where long-term contracts were not in place, one insider told EUWID. Manufacturers typically entered into six-month contracts as well as a large number of full-year agreements with customers in Germany. Therefore, it would be the third quarter before it was clear whether and by how much prices would climb in Germany, he claimed.
