After the latest round of price negotiations the price picture for brown recycled containerboard in Germany at the beginning of September is transparent: prices have gone up, but implementation dates vary.
Some suppliers have agreed with their buyers to hike prices in two steps, with the second step of the hike being implemented by the beginning of September, other companies hiked prices as of 15 or 18 August. Implementation dates after 1 September are currently not reported. Whether suppliers will try and achieve their initial target of €60-70/t remains open for the time being.
Packaging manufacturers, however, clarify that the latest price increase only serves to offset the downturn of the last months and is not motivated by prevailing market conditions. According to corrugated board manufacturers, there are no supply bottlenecks for recycled corrugated case material.
