Core and coreboard manufacturers in Germany are reporting unusually strong business at the start of August and are thinking about price hikes in September.
Due to the good demand from the paper and film industry, summer stoppages performed by Italian board producers and scheduled maintenances by other suppliers, lead times are now up to four weeks in a few instances. According to manufacturers higher prices might be mooted for September if overall demand remains at this level.
Core prices have not risen even with good workloads for a few months now. However if board producers tack on more in September, core producers will have to pass these mark-ups on to customers, they stressed.
