Stora Enso has completed the review of maintenance activities at several of its Swedish mills. Operations at Skoghall paperboard mill to be streamlined.
Stora Enso will start negotiations with employee representatives regarding the reduction of 62 positions out of 820 at the Skoghall paperboard mill in Sweden. According to the company, some 51 blue-collar and 11 white-collar jobs may be affected.
Stora Enso says job cuts at Skoghall are necessary to make the mill more efficient and to secure its long-term competitiveness. Besides the study on the efficiency of maintenance operations, the Skoghall facility has also carried out a review of its other activities, the company says. The review shows that further cost efficiency at the site is possible.
Operations at the Forshaga barrier coating facility near Skoghall are reportedly not affected by the layoff announcement.
