French paper wholesaler Antalis has announced another takeover in the packaging segment. Following the recent acquisition of the BB Pack group in Germany, the company has now signed a binding offer to acquire the Cohal group in Spain, which includes the companies Autoadhesivos Cohal and Garalmi.

Cohal is described as one of the leading suppliers in the Spanish self‐adhesive labels and packaging products distribution markets. The group produces a wide range of labels and distributes packaging products such as generic and printed stretch films, packaging tapes, kraft paper, edge protectors, but also printers and packaging machines for the industrial, logistics, e‐commerce as well as food and beverages sectors. The company is headquartered in Madrid, Spain and booked sales of €12.7m in 2021 with its 60 employees.

Through this takeover, Antalis wants to reinforce its presence in the Iberian market. The group already runs one site in Spain through its Antalis Iberia subsidiary. Antalis operates a total of 93 distribution centres in 30 countries and employs 3,800 people worldwide. The company is part of Japanese Kokusai Pulp & Paper group and is a leading distributor of paper and industrial packaging products as well as visual communication media.

Antalis had invested in the packaging sector only recently by acquiring German BB Pack group. BB Pack is a specialised supplier of packaging solutions for the e-commerce sector.
