Austrian paper producer Heinzel will continue to produce SC Paper on PM 11 at its Laakirchen mill in Austria until the the end of the second quarter next year and then start the planned the rebuild of the machine.
The company confirmed to EUWID that the start of production of recycled corrugated case material on the PM has been moved to September 2024. Originally, the restart was planned for Q2 2024.
Heinzel explained that the postponement enables it to serve its SC paper customers for two more quarters, saying that this is the best course of action in view of the current situation.
Laakirchen Papier had long announced the conversion of PM 11 from the production of publication paper to corrugated case material. With the conversion to packaging papers, the capacity of the rebuilt production line will be increased from 350,000 tpy of SC paper to 500,000 tpy of recycled fluting and testliner.
