Mondi to upgrade Dynäs kraft paper mill

Mondi has announced investments in its Dynäs pulp and kraft paper mill in Sweden.

The company plans to modernise existing machinery and install new equipment such as a new cooking plant and bark boiler, which will improve the mill's energy efficiency. Upgrades will also further reduce air and water emissions, and result in better wood utilisation at the mill, said Mondi.

The Swedish Land and Environment Court approved the investment plans in March 2023. Mondi expects implementation to be completed by the end of 2026. The company did not disclose the investment volume of the planned measures.

At the Dynäs mill, Mondi produces high-quality sack and special sack kraft papers that are used for a wide range of industrial and consumer applications, such as Advantage StretchWrap, an alternative to plastic-based pallet packaging, and Advantage MF EcoComp, which is used for high-strength packaging such as paper sacks for moist organic household waste.
