The acquisition of Fiskeby establishes RDM as the largest independent recycled board producer in Europe.
Italy's Reno de Medici (RDM) Group has finalised the acquisition of Sweden's recycled board manufacturer Fiskeby International Holding. At the Norrköping mill Fiskeby operates one board machine with an installed capacity of 170,000 tpy and boasts a unique position as the only company in Scandinavia to manufacture packaging board made of 100 per cent recovered fibre.
Fiskeby is also "the only board mill in Scandinavia with the ability to use liquid packaging board and other composite packages as raw material and also produces renewable energy from industrial waste collection and the waste generated by the recycling process at the mill," RDM explained.
Fiskeby has a staff of 276 and generates sales of SEK1.2bn. The company's primary product is multiboard, a packaging board developed for the food and beverage, and household products markets. The company is mostly serving customers in Sweden, Germany and the United Kingdom, Reno de Medici said.
Through the acquisition of Fiskeby RDM has become the largest independent recycled board producer in Europe, the Italian group explained.
