Saica snaps up minority stake in Adda Ondulati and Cartorobica

Spain's paper and packaging group Saica is expanding its footprint in the corrugated market in Southern Europe. Total production capacity of Adda Ondulati and Cartorobica exceeds 155 million m².

Saica group has acquired a minority share in Adda Ondulati and Cartorobica, two family-owned Italian corrugated board and packaging manufacturers. "This operation is a step forward as it allows us to expand our footprint within the Southern European markets for corrugated board, in this case, by acquiring minority shares of plants in Italy. It is a great opportunity to increase Saica´s value proposition of sustainable packaging solutions for our customers” said Ramon Alejandro, President of Saica Group.

Adda Ondulati runs an integrated packaging site in Annone di Brianza in Italy's Province of Lecco. The company reportedly produced more than 100 million m² of corrugated products and had sales revenues of €65m.

Cartorobica produces corrugated sheets and packaging at the packaging site in Calcina in the Province of Bergamo. The company had sales revenues of €40m at an output of more than 55 million m² in 2022.

Saica Group is active in four business lines, consisting of waste management and environmental services (Saica Natur), recycled containerboard production (Saica Paper), corrugated board and packaging production (Saica Pack), and flexible packaging (Saica Flex) production. The group posted sales revenues of almost € 4.4bn for 2022.

Saica Paper counts among the leading recycled containerboard producers in Europe with a production capacity of 3.3 million t.
