Consolidation in the European office paper distribution business continues: taking over Xerox' operations would "give Antalis critical mass in this segment and double both its volumes and sales", the company's CEO Pascal Lebard says.

Antalis has made a binding offer to Xerox to acquire the company's office paper distribution business in Western Europe, along with exclusive rights to market and distribute Xerox branded paper and digital print media in Western Europe. Antalis' parent company Sequana said that Xerox with its annual sales of €300m and deliveries of around 280,000 t of paper per year would strengthen its position on the office paper market in Western Europe. The deal is also to expand Antalis customer base and to provide access to new sales networks, especially Xerox' resellers.

The acquisition, which is subject to the approval of the European competition authorities, should be finalised in the fourth quarter of this year, Sequana said.
