This morning, the members of the Environment Committee of the European Parliament voted on the proposal for the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), adopting numerous amendments to the text put forward by the Commission. The final Committee vote on the amended proposal stood at 56 votes in favour, 23 against, and 5 abstentions.

The ENVI Committee's report will now be taken up by the Parliament when it meets for its plenary session from 20 to 23 November. The outcome of the plenary vote will form the Parliament's negotiating position in later trilogue talks with representatives of the member state governments and the Commission to hammer out the final form of the PPWR.
