Due to a weak order situation and falling revenues, machine builder Fabio Perini in Italy intends to restructure its business and might eliminate 100 jobs in Lucca.
Italian producer of tissue machines Fabio Perini is considering to eliminate 100 jobs at its Lucca facility in Italy as part of a restructuring programme. The Cgil trade union said that the company had announced its plans in a meeting with employee representatives on 9 July. As part of the restructuring, Fabio Perini intended to merge some offices and reorganise work at the company which would lead to the job cuts, Cgil communicated. Perini currently employs 539 persons at the Lucca mill.
According to the trade union, Perini justified its plans in saying that the market had become tight and the company’s orders and revenues had decreased. It was necessary to improve efficiency in order to guarantee the future of the Lucca mill, Perini explained.
Fabio Perini is a producer of tissue converting and packaging machinery. The company operates at two sites in Italy and one site in Brazil and China respectively.
