Finnish trade unions take no decision on strike

|

The umbrella organisation of Finnish trade unions SAK has not decided whether to continue strikes in various industries and segments, the Finnish transport workers' union AKT announced today.

On 4 April, the SAK decided to suspend the strikes to start negotiations with the government.

Since then, negotiations with the Finnish government on planned spending cuts and changes to labour rights have been ongoing, said Jarkko Eloranta, chairman of the SAK board.

"No decision has been made today one way or the other," he added.

Talks between the Finnish government and the SAK will be continued. No new deadline for a decision on the continuation of the strike has been set.
