Market players in Germany are reporting brisk business at the start of September.
Woodfree uncoated and coated paper mills have full orderbooks. And printers are reporting good business that appeared to have faltered only briefly over the summer months.
At the same time, printers are complaining of disruptions in supply and that they were unable to complete printing orders as planned now and again because of problems with paper deliveries. Business relationships with their print customers were at stake, sources pointed out.Insiders in Germany expect procurement troubles and the trend in woodfree paper prices to intensify in the weeks and months ahead.
Against the background of reduced supply, high input costs, and increasing demand several woodfree paper manufacturers have launched another price hike initiative on the market in Europe. The paper mills plan to charge up to 10 per cent more for fine paper deliveries paper as October.
