Hamburger Containerboard will curtail recycled corrugated case material production in Austria and Hungary owing to excess supply in Europe, and Germany in particular. According to Hamburger, up to date European containerboard stocks are showing an almost 20% increase against the same period last year. Market-related downtime at Frohnleiten and Dunaújváros mills scheduled for September is expected to reduce the company’s recycled containerboard output by 10,000 tonnes. Another 6,000 tonnes in white-top testliner capacity will be withdrawn from the market in October following investment projects, says Hamburger.
