New capacity is said to meet growing market demand for bleached kraft paper.

Paper and packaging company Mondi plans to install a new 155,000 tpy paper machine at its pulp and paper mill in Štětí, Czech Republic, in order to meet growing market demand for bleached kraft paper. The new paper machine PM 7 is scheduled to come online in the first half of 2014.

According to Mondi, the investment will integrate its market pulp capacity and enable the company for growth in the kraft paper business. Around 50% of the new capacity is expected to be used internally to satisfy Mondi's own requirements, the company explained.

Mondi Štětí pulp and paper mill produces kraft pulp, linerboard, machine glazed and kraft sack papers. The total production capacity amounts to more than 500,000 tpy.

The total investment in the expansion project at the Štětí site amounts to €70m. Key components for the new PM 7 will be supplied by Andritz.
