No further move in recycled containerboard prices in Germany so far

In Germany, no further move was made in the first days of October to increase prices to take the overall increase in prices of recycled corrugated case material to a uniform €50/t.

Market sources in Germany told EUWID that prices have stayed with the increase that was implemented in September. While paper mills still do not want to abandon their plans to raise prices, many EUWID respondents believed at the beginning of the month that no further price hikes will be implemented in October. However, some paper producers still see opportunities resulting from the production downtime of a major player in the second half of October. The downtime in conjunction with maintenance works on several PMs might still provide some encouragement to price negotiations, they say. On the other hand, the price hikes announced in August and September encouraged corrugated board producers to build inventories, which could potentially affect demand in October, other respondents told EUWID.
