Nordic Paper has announced job cuts at its Åmotfors mill in Sweden which will result in a reduction of kraft paper production. Production director for kraft paper Lars Rosén said that the company had started negotiations with employee representatives in order to lay off around 20 people as of September this year. Nordic Paper intends to reduce the number of shifts at PM 1 from five to three and thus reduce paper production as well. The Åmotfors mill has a production capacity of around 56.000 tpy of unbleached kraft paper, but Mr Rosén said that only around 40.000 tpy were currently produced there.
