Papeterie de Turckheim to be liquidated

|

The county court of Colmar on 22 March ordered the liquidation of newsprint manufacturer Papeterie de Turckheim with immediate effect after operations at the mill had been stopped a week ago. A spokesman of French trade union CFDT explained that the company had filed for insolvency as its debts were too high and it could not pay its employees. The court ruling stands to affect around 110 employees who will be dismissed by the end of March. It is as yet unclear whether production at Turckheim will be permanently stopped or possibly resumed by an investor.
