Recycled containerboard prices in Germany stabilise

The decline in recycled containerboard prices in Germany has come to a halt at the beginning of August. Announcements for price increases as of September have already been made.

Announcements of plans to charge more for recycled corrugated case material from 1 September put the breaks on another decline in prices in the first two weeks of August. However, EUWID sources are convinced that it is too soon to determine the lasting impact of these announcements. In the first half of August, it was already looking clear that raising prices by the full sum in a single instalment was not realistic.

On the whole, paper producers and converters are reporting a normal market and even somewhat better business than expected for this time of year. Nonetheless, forecasts for the domestic market and trends abroad were a source of concern.
