While a few experts see some pressure on GC II prices in Germany, there have been announcements of plans to increase prices for GD board.
With shorter than usual lead times of 3 to 4 weeks and a slight decline in pulp costs, some market insiders see pressure on GC II prices in Germany. Carton makers who have quarterly contracts said they did not want to roll over the prices at the current level into the second quarter.
On the market for GD board, two suppliers have reportedly announced price increases to take effect from the second quarter, but this has not yet been confirmed by all EUWID respondents. Carton makers, however, said they were not prepared to enter into negotiations on a possible hike.
