The coronavirus will not prevent German recycling association Bvse to hold its annual recovered paper conference. The Altpapiertag 2020 will take place on 19 March.
The 23rd International Recovered Paper Conference taking place in Düsseldorf, Germany on 19 March 2020 will not be cancelled despite the spread of the coronavirus. The organiser of the so-called "Altpapiertag", German recycling industry association Bundesverband Sekundärrohstoffe und Entsorgung (Bvse), informed that the event would go ahead as scheduled as things stand at present. Depending on the dynamics of the coronavirus, the association might reconsider the decision, but is not expecting to do so at the moment.
"Compared to the cancelled international fairs, Altpapiertag is a very small event," Bvse writes. Around 400 people have reportedly resgistrated for the conference. The association has not received any registration from the "risk areas" such as China or Italy and said it would ensure that this would not happen.
"The Maritim Hotel has assured us that it is well prepared", said Bvse, adding that the hotel, where the conference takes place, was following the hygiene standards set by the German health authorities. As a precautionary measure, additional hand disinfection stations will be set up.
Altpapiertag is one of the most important conferences and networking events in Europe for the recovered paper recycling industry. It is organised by Bvse and takes place annually in Düsseldorf, Germany.
