German prices for ordinary RCP grades up in July

There was no indication of a summertime calm on the German recovered paper (RCP) market in July. The boom on the Far East export market continued unabated, resulting in strong pressure on the domestic market.

In July, prices of supermarket paper and board in particular were driven higher owing to the excellent shipment opportunities to Asia.

The upward trend was not quite as pronounced for mixed paper and board, mainly due to the lack of demand from China for this grade. Nevertheless, RCP sellers succeeded in raising prices for mixed paper on good domestic demand.

EUWID sources report attempts to cut RCP prices in August

While strong demand on the export market characterised the month of July, it appeared to be tapering off noticeably in August. As a result, there had been attempts by domestic and foreign buyers to reduce prices for ordinary grades, according to EUWID sources on the German market.
