Metsä Group's Äänekoski pulp mill up and running

Pulp production at the new pulp mill in Äänekoski kicked off as planned on 15 August. Pulp deliveries to customers are announced to begin in early September.

Metsä Group has started production at its new pulp mill in Äänekoski. According to the company, Äänekoski mill came into operation on 15 August and first pulp deliveries will be shipped to the customers in early September.

"The bioproduct mill will achieve its nominal capacity approximately a year after start-up. The mill will produce 1.3 million tonnes of pulp per year, along with other bioproducts such as tall oil and turpentine," Metsä Group explained.

Before the new Äänekoski pulp mill was started up, Metsä Group has reportedly shut down the old pulp mill in Äänekoski. Dismantling of the 530,000 tpy softwood and hardwood pulp mill was currently in progress, the company informed.
