25 Jun 2018 −

Gemdoubs owners acquire additional capacities for recycled containerboard

After seven years in sole ownership of investment company Open Gate Capital, French maker of recycled corrugated case material Norpaper is sold to the Lebanese entrepreneurs Gemayel Frères and Chaoui Industriel Group, owners and operators of Gemdoubs, which had been acquired by Fady and Nabil Gemayel in 2013. The transaction includes two plants in Blendecques and Nantes with a total maximum output of around 220,000 tpy, of which around 80% are white, uncoated testliner. The parties involved did not provide any information on the price and other conditions of the sale.

Norpaper produces papers with basis weights between 115 and 175 g/m2 in widths from 195 to 280 cm. Preprint papers are produced, especially in Blendecques, as well as postprint papers. The company's customers consist of independent corrugated board manufacturers and also of larger European company groups. Around 60 % of Norpaper's sales remain in France, with customers throughout Western Europe accounting for the rest.
