Pulp, paper and board production in Sweden so far unaffected by forest fires
Forest fires in Sweden have so far only affected pulp and paper production marginally, companies told EUWID in response to a query. However, it is unclear whether bottlenecks and problems will be encountered later in the year, they added.
Companies that manage proprietary forests have had to curtail felling. But apart from limited harvesting activities, production in the pulp, paper and board mills was not unaffected, experts told EUWID. However, the impact on production in the autumn was difficult to gauge as many private forest owners were affected by the fires. Some experts believe that in the case of a tight wood supply prices would be going up again.
