14 Feb 2017 −

Manufacturers are having no doubts about the success of their price plans for February and do not exclude further price hikes for March deliveries.

Recycled corrugated case material producers have apparently managed to institute higher prices for recycled corrugated case material on the market in Germany. As January drew to a close, it was already clear that prices would jump from 1 February; something that was mainly due to suppliers taking a very consistent approach, EUWID sources stated. Another price hike is planned to take effect on 1 March but negotiations with buyers are still going on.

Quite a few recycled containerboard converters are a bit suspicious about the whole affair. Supply on the market in Germany was not really tight, insiders told EUWID, adding that paper could not be sourced overnight in the recent past, but that there were by no means any real supply problems.
