31 Jul 2020 −

Spanish Saica Group will start activities in the USA, joining corrugated board manufacturers DS Smith and Smurfit Kappa who have been active in the US for some time.

The company intends to build a 33,000 m² plant for corrugated board in Hamilton near Cincinnati, Ohio. The new plant will provide jobs for 64 employees, according to Saica.

The company will invest 72 million US$ in the plant, it is said. Construction is expected to start in September and to take 18 months to finish. The site is in the Hamilton Enterprise Park, owned by the City of Hamilton and dedicated to attracting new manufacturing operations to the city.

Smurfit Kappa and DS Smith, two other large European corrugated board manufacturers, have already been active in the USA and on the American continent for a couple of years.
